Item:  CFIA is moving to ERA (establishment based risk assessment). In this process the current CVS (Compliance verification system) will be replaced by the new SIP (standard inspection process). Each facility will need to complete the AEI (additional establishment information) questionnaire in their MyCFIA profile. CFIA then assigns a Risk-Level to your plant. Some food commodities have started, others are coming up soon, like this fall and spring 2022. Be very careful in completing this questionnaire as it can effect how many audits and inspections you get per year. Contact me for more information.

Item: If you are GFSI certified and have 1-practitioner for all departments – consider having a practitioner for each department (QA, purchasing, HR, operations, maintenance) who will keep up to date, add new or review all programs and procedures for that department and sign off. They can also present to the auditor. One overall facility practitioner should still exist and coordinate the internal audit and other practitioners.
